What we believe
The Bible is Relevant and True
The Bible is God's Word to us. It was written by human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth (unchanging and relevant) for Christian beliefs and daily living. Because it's inspired by God, it is truth without error.
[Psalm 12:6; 119:105, 160; Proverbs 30:5; 2 Timothy 1:13; 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21]
The Trinity - Three in One
God has existed in relationship with Himself for all eternity. He exists as one substance in three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Although each member of the Trinity serves different functions, they each possess equal power and authority.
[Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 61:1; Matthew 28:19; Mark 1:9-11; Luke 1:35; John 5:21-23; 14:10, 16; Romans 8:9-11; 1 Corinthians 8:6; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Hebrews 1:8-10; James 2:19]
God the Father
God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He is all powerful, all knowing, ever present, unchanging, trustworthy and Holy. He is our Heavenly Father: loving, compassionate and faithful to His people and His promises.
[Genesis 1:26-27; Exodus 3:14; Numbers 23:19; Leviticus 11:44-45; 19:2; Psalm 11:4-6; Malachi 3:6; John 3:16; 4:24; 5:26; 14:1; Acts 17:28; Romans 3:3-4]
Jesus the Son of God
Jesus Christ is the Son of God - fully human and fully God; born of the virgin Mary. He lived a sinless human life and died on the cross as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people. Three days later, Jesus rose from the dead to show He had conquered sin and death.
[Isaiah 7:14; 53; Matthew 1:18-23, 3:17; 8:29; 14:33; 16:16; 28:5-6; Luke 22:70; 24:46-47; John 1:1, 14; 10:30; 11:25-27; 17:1-5; Acts 1:9; 2:22-24; 7:55-56; Romans 1:3-4; 3:23-26; 8:1-3; 10:4 1 Corinthians 8:6; 2 Corinthians 5:19-21: Galatians 4:4-5; Philippians 2:5-11; Colossians 1:15; 2:9; 1 Timothy 2:5-6; 3:16]
The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit coequal with the Father and the Son of God. He is present in the world to make men aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. He gives every believer spiritual gifts when they are saved. As Christians we seek to live under His control daily.
[Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 3:17; John 16:7-13; 14:16-17; 1 Corinthians 2:12; 3:16; Ephesians 1:13; 5:18; Galatians 5:25]
All Have Sinned
People are made in God's image - to be like Him in character, but because human beings rebelled against God (Adam and Eve) everyone is born with a sinful nature. Although every person has tremendous potential for good, all of us are marred by an attitude of disobedience toward God - sin.
[Genesis 1:27; Psalm 8:3-6; Isaiah 53:6; Romans 3:23; Isaiah 59:1-2]
All Need A Savior
Jesus provides the only way of salvation through the forgiveness of sins by His shed blood upon the cross. Salvation occurs when people place their faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as sufficient payment for their sin: God's mercy and grace. Salvation is a gift from God and it cannot be earned through our own efforts of self improvement or good works.
[Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9; John 1:2; 14:6; Titus 3:5; Galatians 3:26; Romans 5:1; 10:9,10]
The Return and Reign of Jesus Christ
After Jesus rose from the dead He ascended to the Father in heaven and will return to the earth (no one knows when - only God) as Savior of the world. This is the second coming of Christ when He will gather those who have received Him as the Savior of their sins and made Him Lord of their life.
[Acts 1:9-11; Colossians 1:15-17; 2 Peter 3:9-13; Revelation 20:15; 21:1-5]
Eternity; Heaven and Hell are Real
People were created to exist forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin or eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is hell. To be eternally in union with Him is eternal life in Heaven. Heaven and Hell are real places of eternal existence... it's our choice.
[John 3:16; 14:17; Romans 6:23, 8:17-18; Revelation 20:15; 1 Corinthians 2:7-9]
The Church
The church is a local community of unified believers through faith as followers of Jesus Christ. It is committed to the teachings of Christ, obeying His commands, and sharing in the mission to bring the gospel to the world. The church works together in love and unity, intent upon the ultimate purpose of glorifying Jesus Christ.
[Matthew 16:18; 28:18-20; John 17:15; 20:21; Acts 1:8; 2:41-47; Ephesians 5:22-32; 1 Timothy 4:14; 1 Peter 5:1-4; Revelation 21:2-3]
